This year was a major turnaround. We had a winning conference record of 3-2; in contrast, last year's record was 1-4. Counting tournaments and non-conference dual meets, our overall record was 25-18-1.
In tournaments, we placed 5th out of 12 teams at Beast of the East, and 6th out of 15 teams at Far East. We had much improved team and individual performances at tournaments throughout the season: CAJ Tournament (12/9/17): #4/9 teams; Noah (1st), Ira (3rd), Rin (3rd), Liam (3rd) Beast of the East (1/13/18): #5/12(tie); Rin (1st), Noah (2nd), Egan (4th) Kanto Finals (1/20/18): #4/6; Rin (1st), Noah (2nd), Ira (3rd), Egan (3rd), Zenon (3rd) Far East-Individual (2/1-2/18): #6/15 (#4/6 big schools); Rin (2nd), Noah (2nd), Zenon (3rd), Ira (5th), Egan (6th), Kieran (6th) Far East-Team (2/2/18): ASIJ (4th/6), a few notable performances included Zenon being the only Mustang to go 3-0 over the three matches, including an incredible 6-4 win over the newly-crowned Far East Champ (Kinnick), Noah pinning the Far East Champ (Kinnick) to end the season 3-3 against him, and Dani wrestling his best match of the year against a tough kid (Kadena) to enable the team to squeeze out a 29-24 victory over Kadena in the opening round.
